Desexing and community food programmes
DESEXING
A large part of our passion here at Ellie's to is help people keep their dogs as well as reducing the number of unwanted litters. We are open to applications from people who are struggling financially to help them arrange to desex their dog. Desexing your dog is a important to avoid adding to the huge canine overpopulation in NZ at the moment. It also is proven to help your dog avoid certain cancers and other serious medical conditions. Desexing your dog also helps you reduce the cost of your annual council dog registration. If you are unable to afford to desex your dog and want to, please email us with your details to: [email protected] . This assistance is limited to the Greater Wellington Region. FOOD AND MICROCHIPPING We work with local suppliers and food banks to ensure we have a regular supply of dog food to provide to people who are experiencing financial hardship. We hold community microchipping and food hand out events throughout the region. We also take details on the day of people interested in having their dog desexed through us at our cost. Advantages of microchipping and having your dog registered on the NZ Companion Animal register (NZCAR): 1. If your dog gets lost and a stranger finds them, they can take them to a rescue or vet who will scan them for free and call the person on the database. 2. If your dog gets lost and the pound collect it, being microchipped will save you a potential $300 fine and they will be able to contact you quicker. 3. It is proof of ownership – no one else will be able to claim your dog as theirs. If you have a dog and you are not sure whether it is microchipped or registered on the NZCAR, we will scan them and check for you. If they are microchipped but not registered, we can register them for you for $10. You will still get a bag of food. Follow us on Facebook to find out when the next event is happening.Or if your community group is interested in hosting one of these events, please contact us. If you'd like to help us help people to desex, microchip and feed their dogs, we'd love a donation. |

Community visits
We love finding new ways to socialise our pups. We've had an amazing time taking them to rest homes in our area.
It's a great way for our pups to get used to meeting new people and the smiles on the residents' faces is unbeatable. Please contact us if you would be interested in having us come to your rest home for a visit. |
Puppy cuddles at your event
Our puppy cuddle pop ups are super popular wherever we go.
We've popped up at puppy yoga, Sunday markets, Christmas fairs and even local bars! It's a great way to bring new people to your event and it helps us to raise our profile, talk to people about become foster superstarts, and, most importantly, to introduce puppies for adoption to their prospective new families. If you have a market, fair, venue or event that we could hold a puppy cuddle stall at, please get in touch. Email us at [email protected]. |
